Yoko Reikano Kimura has been inspired by her shamisen teacher, Akiko Nishigata, who is considered to be one of the pioneers of contemporary shamisen music performance. In the history of shamisen music, many talented shamisen players have created various styles and cultivated the appeals of shamisen music. For this project, Kimura hopes to create contemporary shamisen music through collaborations with living composers and talented musicians.
