In the history of shamisen music, many talented shamisen players have created various styles and cultivated the appeals of shamisen music. For this project, Kimura hopes to create contemporary shamisen music through collaborations with living composers and talented musicians. As a Yamada-style trained player, Kimura uses both Hira-bachi (plain type plectrum) and Jiuta-bachi (wider type plectrum) as well as her voice.
