Four Seasons in New York – Gems of Japanese Music – vol. 33

Yoko Reikano Kimura, a Yamada-style koto performer and  “Setsugekka” in East Village have been co-hosting a Japanese music concert series, “Four Seasons in New York – Gems of Japanese Music – “.  Launched in the fall of 2015, the series has offered audiences a chance to experience the sounds of the koto and shamisen throughout the seasons. To date, over 60 pieces have been presented, ranging from classical to contemporary works.  Attendees will also enjoy matcha prepared by tea ceremony master Souheki Mori.

Lady Murasaki, who is considered the world’s first novelist, is one of the many women who have played an integral part in Japanese culture. The duo will celebrate such pioneers as well as female composers who continue to shape the future of Japanese music.
